haiku for the day: bottle of water

You know the difference between an optimist and a pessimist? I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking about that bottle, now aren’t you? Well, that’s not what I was going to say. And it’s not about shooting for the stars and ramming right into the moon either.

Besides you don’t want to land on the moon. I saw “Iron Sky” and I swear there is a Nazi base on the other side of the moon. Leave it to those Finns and Germans and Australians to come up with a wild and crazy movie like that. Recently I saw a Finnish TV suspense series called “Black Widows”. Three wives blow their husbands’ boat up with their husbands in it. That’s the first episode. It’s Desperate Housewives Nordic Noir.

So, you really want to know the difference between an optimist and a pessimist. When a pessimist is surprised, it’s a good thing. When an optimist is surprised, it’s a bad thing. Think about it, then read this haiku.

a bottle of water
half full and half empty too
a guard against thirst

If it’s Thursday, this must be Thursday.

My dear Readers, I hope you know that I stay up very late thinking about you. Thinking about what will entertain you and give you delight. In that light, this came to me last night. (This one I could have put on Facebook but, kind soul that I am, I decided to save it special for my readers.)

Do you know the difference between an a pessimist and an optimist?

No, not that.

Wrong there too.

C’mon, guys. You can do better than that.

So I won’t keep you guessing, here it is. The difference between a pessimist and and an optimist is: When a pessimist is surprised, it is a good thing. When an optimist is surprised, it is a bad thing.
